Movement of the Week /// Scaling the Pistol


Today on the <<>> BLOG <<>> I am sharing my favorite way to scale for pistols! Grab a set of parallettes, boxes, chairs and practice keeping your whole foot flat to the floor as you squat on one leg! Many more ways to scale, but this is a very simple and highly effective way to do so. 

Coaching tips:
  • Set the parallettes shoulder width apart (about fingertip to shoulder distance apart) so you can keep your eyes straight ahead without having to look down to grab the parallettes towards the bottom of the squat
  • Keep your arms and hands at your sides and the parallettes will be set directly under that
  • You can also use a set of boxes or benches as well
  • The lower the surface the more challenging
  • You can also squat to a box or bench, if needed
