We know the to do list is long with laundry, errands, work, feeding everyone (again), and maybe even squeezing in a moment to breathe. But here’s the thing, friend: if your fitness isn’t on that list, it’s going to get buried under it.
And we can’t have that, not on my watch.
Fitness isn’t just about getting strong muscles or toned legs (though yes please to both). It’s about preserving your mental health, emotional well-being, and full-body function for years to come. It’s about having energy to run your business and chase your toddler and not fall apart before dinner.
So how do we make sure you’re showing up for you just as much as you’re showing up for everyone else?
These are a few simple tips I share with my clients to help keep fitness a top priority every week:
Aim for Consistency Over Perfection
Try to get in 5 days a week of movement, anywhere from 30–60 minutes, with an active recovery day or two, and at least one full rest day. That might sound like a lot, but hear me out: this is not extra. This is essential maintenance.
If you’re just getting started or hopping back in after a break (which is totally okay), three solid workouts a week is a great foundation. Start there. Build from that.
Pick a Workout You Actually Like… But Know This: Results Don’t Come from Comfort
It’s great to enjoy movement! It helps you stay consistent, but if you want actual, lasting results? If you want strength, muscle, confidence, longevity and the kind of fitness that changes your life it’s not going to feel good in the moment. In fact, it should be uncomfortable. Probably even more mentally than physically. That’s the point. Growth demands discomfort.
So yes, walk, dance, move in ways that feel good, but also make sure to regularly challenge yourself. Add in consistent structured strength and conditioning programming, the hard stuff. The stuff you avoid. Lift heavy. Push your pace. Learn to love being uncomfortable, because that’s where the transformation happens and your strength is built.
And if that’s not your jam, that’s okay! Walk, stretch, and breathe. You’ll still be healthier than doing nothing. Just don’t confuse that with the benefits that come from building real strength and resilience. The kind that makes you harder to kill and better at life.
Time It Like a Boss
Try knocking out your workout first thing in the morning. It sets the tone for your day, you get that win early, and life’s surprises can’t steal your time slot. Not a morning person? No problem. Just schedule it like you would any important meeting. Because that’s what it is, a meeting with yourself, for your health, your peace, your strength.
Treat It Like It Matters (Because It Does)
Listen, I know you’ve got a lot on your plate. But you are not meant to come last. Your workout is not selfish. It’s not extra. It’s not a luxury. It’s a non negotiable. You moving your body is what keeps you energized, focused, patient, creative, and sane.
The truth? The people you love don’t need a run down, exhausted version of you. They need the real you. Strong, clear headed, full of life, and lit up from the inside out.
